Posture Work
Sthiram sukham asanam
These Sanskrit words are from The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and mean stability and ease within a posture. During class you will be guided to listen to your body and to respond to your bodies needs, you will be encouraged to work within your own limitations, finding enjoyment in a stretch, but not over doing it. Working to increase flexibility and strength, finding a place of steadiness and ease.
During the Asana work you will place your body into various positions, with awareness on the breath, and observe sensations created, along with any thoughts or emotions which may be passing. During the class I will be guiding you to observe your sensations, and with an open hearted sense of self-compassion, allowing yourself to be as you are. Yoga teaches that accepting yourself how you are is the starting point for change.
